Welcome to The Dixie Taoist.

Harmony is not achieved in a single moment—but it can be lost in one. So train your awareness in every moment, to be ready for the ones that matter most.

Whether you arrived here through a book, a video, an article, or a recommendation from a friend, this page is the best place to begin.

The teachings of The Dixie Taoist are built upon a simple idea:

Greater awareness leads to wiser choices, and wiser choices lead to a more harmonious life.

The concepts explored throughout this site are interconnected. Each one builds upon the others.

1. Awareness

Awareness is the foundation.

Without awareness, we operate on habit, impulse, and unconscious patterns. With awareness, we become capable of seeing ourselves, our circumstances, and our choices more clearly.

Every path explored within The Dixie Taoist begins here.

2. The Present Moment

Life can only be lived in the present moment.

The past can be remembered. The future can be imagined. But choice exists only now.

Learning to return to the present moment is one of the most practical skills a person can develop.

3. Desire

Desire is a natural part of the human experience.

Desire motivates growth, creativity, and achievement. Yet unmanaged desire can also pull awareness away from the present moment and place us under the influence of impulse and attachment.

Understanding desire is essential to understanding ourselves.

4. Ego

The ego is not the enemy.

The ego is a natural aspect of human consciousness. Problems arise when we become unconsciously identified with it.

When awareness becomes fused with ego, we lose perspective and become reactive rather than intentional.

5. Sovereignty

Sovereignty is the ability to govern oneself.

It is not control over others. It is not domination.

Personal sovereignty develops when awareness becomes strong enough to guide thoughts, emotions, desires, and actions rather than being controlled by them.

6. Harmony

Harmony is not the absence of challenge.

Harmony is the alignment of our thoughts, actions, and choices with reality.

It is cultivated gradually through awareness and can be lost when awareness is abandoned.

7. The Moment of Choice

Life is shaped by countless decisions, both large and small.

Most moments pass unnoticed.

Some moments carry greater weight.

These threshold moments often determine the direction of our relationships, our health, our finances, and our future.

The purpose of daily awareness is not merely to improve ordinary moments. It is to prepare us for the moments that matter most.

A Guiding Principle

Harmony is not achieved in a single moment—but it can be lost in one. So I train my awareness in every moment, to be ready for the ones that matter most.
